#1-ranked Mariners host the Blues with two weekends remaining in the regular season
NANAIMO, B.C. - After clinching the top spot in the PACWEST conference with two Island Rivalry wins over Camosun, the Mariners are turning their attention to a possible playoff opponent in the Capilano Blues.
VIU Mariners (14-2) vs Capilano Blues (8-8) - VIU Gym
- Friday, February 9 at 6 p.m. and Saturday, Febrary 10 at 1 p.m.

- Previous games: VIU defeated Capilano 3-1 (25-27, 25-20, 25-20, 25-18) and 3-0 (25-16, 25-13, 25-19) back in November
AT STAKE
As the #1 seed going into the PACWEST playoffs (February 23-24, Douglas College), the Mariners will play the fourth seed in the conference. Capilano is currently in third place in the PACWEST, only two points up on Camosun and four points up on CBC. Each team, including the Mariners, has four games remaining.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
- VIU: Aimee Skinner, reigning PACWEST women's volleyball athlete of the week and a CCAA athlete of the week, has been on fire in the spring semester. She sits second in the conference in kills per set (3.58), aces per set (0.63), and total offense (4.37).
- Capilano: Nanaimo's Nnya Mbaoma is third in kills per set and total offense. The Blues feature the top two blockers in the PACWEST, Natalie Rourke (0.85 blocks per set) and Sibby Bos (0.7, tied with Douglas's Alana Murr).
