Mariners Fan Code of Conduct
The VIU Mariners are committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable game day experience for all fans and event participants.
VIU, PACWEST, and the CCAA encourage and promote good sportsmanship by students, athletes, coaches, and spectators. We request your cooperation by supporting the athletes and officials in a positive manner at all Mariners sporting events.
We ask all fans to adhere to the following Fan Code of Conduct and refrain from:
- Behaviour that is unruly, disruptive or illegal in nature
- Interfering with the progress of the game, including throwing objects and/or unauthorized persons encroaching on the area of play
- Attending the game visibly impaired by alcohol or drugs
- Abusive language and/or obscene gestures
- Displaying clothing with obscene, offensive, or indecent messages
- Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans, officials, opponents, or another person
- Intentionally sitting or standing in areas that obstruct the passage and/or view of other spectators
- Failing to follow instructions of university staff
- Bringing and of these prohibited items into the gym: mechanical noise makers such as megaphones and air horns, flags, sticks or flagpoles to hold signs or flags, and weapons.
Guests are encouraged to report any disruptive behavior to the nearest member of the Mariners Game Day team. University or security staff will promptly intervene to support an environment where event patrons, their guests, and other fans can enjoy the event free from disruption, harassment and discrimination. Event patrons and guests who violate these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund, and loss of ticket privileges for future events.
