Weekend Preview: First Place on the Line
VIU is headed to the playoffs but the final weekend will decide seeding
NANAIMO - The Mariners (19 points) have a two point lead over Douglas College at the top of the conference but, to stay there, expect to need points in the final weekend of the regular season versus the third-place Capilano Blues (11 points).
The Douglas Royals play the fourth-place Langara Falcons (6 points) twice in the Lower Mainland this weekend. The team that finishes first in the conference receives a bye to the PACWEST championship game on Sunday, October 27.
When & Where
- Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 at Q'unq'inuqwstuxw Stadium. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. on both days.
- Saturday's game is presented by Nanaimo Mitsubishi. Sunday's game is presented by Junk In Our Trunk.

VIU and Capilano have fought each other to a standstill in two meetings earlier this season: 2-2 and 1-1 ties in September.

Graduating Player Celebration
After Sunday's game, graduating student-athletes Tori Hauptman, Saki Meshida, Asuka Okabe, and Taylor Kinley will be recognized (approximately 2:30 p.m.) along with graduating student-athletes from the men's team: Grayson Chalifoux, Michael Heppelle, and Matt Coburn.
