Saki Meshida named PACWEST Women's Soccer Player of the Year, headlines a list of seven VIU all-stars
NANAIMO, BC - Women's soccer forward Saki Meshida has been named PACWEST Women's Soccer Player of the Year.
Meshida, who was also named as an all-star, was part of a strong awards showing from the VIU women's soccer team. In addition to Meshida's accolades, Bobbie Taylor was named Coach of the Year for the second straight year, VIU's top goal scorer Jami Hartwich was named a co-winner of the Rookie of the Year award (along with Douglas College's Anna Klaver-Valdez), and dynamic midfielder Hannah Rose was named an all-star.
On the men's side, three Mariners were voted to the all-star team: defender and captain Travis Brown, versatile midfielder Michael Heppelle, and goal-scoring forward Vasilios Bagiopoulos.
All-stars, along with the coach, player, and rookie of the year awards, are voted on by PACWEST coaches.
