Bio
VIU Mariners men's basketball head coach Matt Kuzminski has drawn from considerable success as a varsity basketball student-athlete to become of the top collegiate men's basketball coaches in Canada.
Since arriving at VIU, his Mariners teams are consistently in contention for conference and national titles. Over 11 seasons, beginning in 2012-13, Matt's teams have finished first (eight times) or second (three times) in the conference standings and have won medals every year in conference championship tournaments.

- Four CCAA national medals (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze); most by a PACWEST school since 2012-13
- Two CCAA national 4th place finishes (2022, 2017)

In his younger years, Matt was a student-athlete and an assistant coach with Dover Bay Secondary in Nanaimo. He continues to dedicate his time to the development of basketball in Nanaimo and Vancouver Island as a coach, educator, and youth program facilitator. Many of his VIU student-athletes have advanced into coaching roles at club and school programs in the greater Nanaimo area.
