Women's Basketball Adds Four More for 22-23
Three BC guards and an Albertan forward bolster the list of recruits
NANAIMO - VIU Mariners women's basketball has added four more dynamic athletes to its 2022-23 recruiting class: three guards from BC and one forward from Alberta.
Julia Foster
Forward
Calgary, AB
Watch out, opposing forwards! Foster adds valuable height and an aggresive defensive presence to the Mariners, continuing a journey that took her from Alberta to PEI and now to British Columbia.
Amber Hemrich
Guard
Vancouver, BC
Hemrich, a combo guard who is lauded for her heart and work ethic, joins the Mariners from a top 4A program at Sir Winston Churchill that finished fifth in BC in 2022.
Kiayra Hohlweg
Guard
Richmond, BC
Hohlweg is a multi-sport athlete who has earned all-star nods throughout her high school basketball career, including being named 1st Team All-Star as her McMath Wildcats won the 2022 BC AAA Basketball Championship.
Jordyn Rioux
Guard
Victoria, BC
Rioux adds to VIU's list of Island all-stars. The combo guard led her Belmont team in scoring in 2022 and was named an all-star at the Alberni Totem tournament in March.
We are excited to welcome Jordyn, Kiayra, Amber, and Julia to the Mariners family!
