Preview: Mariners vs Falcons in VIU's First Road Game of 2022
BURNABY, B.C. - VIU Mariners women's soccer hits the road (and a very early ferry ride) for the first road test of 2022 PACWEST campaign: a morning matchup in Burnaby vs the Langara Falcons.
VIU (1-0-1) vs Langara (0-1-1)
The Mariners earned a home win and a home tie against the Capilano Blues in the first weekend of the PACWEST regular season and are tied with the Douglas Royals atop the conference standings. The Falcons dropped a 2-1 decision to the Royals in the opening game of the season but fought the Royals to a 1-1 tie in a mid-week makeup game.

Fourth-year keeper Melanie Osborne (Coquiltlam, BC) played both VIU games on opening weekend and allowed three goals over the weekend. Falcons goalkeeper Lucy Lalach (Cranbrook, BC) allowed 2 goals in the loss to the Royals. (No stats for Wednesday's Falcons game were available at press time.)
HEAD-TO-HEAD
The Mariners went 2-0-1 versus the Falcons in 2021, winning two games comfortably at home (5-0, 4-1) but earning a 2-2 tie at Swangard.
