Mariners face the Douglas Royals in a PACWEST championship semifinal
KELOWNA, B.C. - VIU women's basketball will face a tough foe in the Douglas Royal in the PACWEST women's basketball semifinals (Friday, March 1).
The two teams split the season series with the Mariners (20-4) winning twice at Douglas (12-12) in October and the Royals winning twice on VIU's home court in January.
The Royals came back to defeat the Camosun Chargers 63-55 in Thursday's quarterfinal matchup with rookie forward Mackenzie Dalphond earning the player of the game award for Douglas. This will be the first game of the tournament for VIU, which earned a semifinal bye for finishing in the top spot in the conference regular season standings.

The winner advanceds to the PACWEST gold medal game on Saturday, March 2 at 5:30 p.m. and will play the host Okanagan Coyotes. Okanagan defeated the Capilano Blues in Friday's first semifinal.
