Four All-Stars Recognized for VIU Men's Soccer
Bagiopoulos, McKenzie, Coburn, and Heppelle noted for outstanding seasons
VIU Mariners men's soccer earned four PACWEST all-star nods in 2022: forward Vasilis Bagiopoulos, defenders Jonny McKenzie and Matthew Coburn, and midfielder/goalkeeper Michael Heppelle. Congratulations!
VIU's leading goal scorer has been impactful all season long: clinical in front of goal and can turn a regular play into a dangerous run on goal in an instant. Composed, confident, and a legit difference-maker at any point in a game.
An all-around leader who has earned the respect of his peers; his experience has been a crucial part of VIU's success. Shows confidence on and off the ball, attacking or defending.
A tremendous defender and an integral part to the team's defensive success. Always puts the team first and has been a stellar role model for so many new defenders on the team.
A critical part of the VIU team in the midfield with high-energy defending and precise setups on offense. Incredibly athletic and fun to watch--and also substituted in as 'keeper for three halves and didn't allow a goal. A leader on and off the field.
These four all-stars will lead VIU into the PACWEST Soccer Championships semifinal against Douglas College on Saturday, October 29 at 4:30 p.m. at Mulgrave School in West Vancouver. The game will be streamed live on PACWEST.TV.
