VIU brings two solid road performances to the Interior versus Okanagan College
KELOWNA - VIU men's basketball (12-0) remained at the top of the table following two road wins against the Okanagan Coyotes (1-7).
VIU 106 - OKANAGAN COLLEGE 59
Every Mariner hit the scoresheet as the team earned its largest margin of victory this season with a 47-point win over the host Coyotes.
Guard Tori Odom continued his excellent run of play in 2022 by netting a team-high 24 points in 24 minutes of action. Defensively, Odom matched up against PACWEST leading scorer Omon Edobar and limited him to only 8 points in the game.
Cameron Gay added 21 points--10 in the first quarter as VIU built a 29-14 lead--and Akoi Yuot put up a double-double (18 points, 11 rebounds).
Forward Seth Blundell led the Coyotes with 16 points.
VIU 99 - OKANAGAN COLLEGE 84
The Mariners built up an 87-62 advantage over three quarters and cruised to victory in Saturday's rematch.
Akoi Yuot made his presence felt with team highs in points (29) and rebounds (6). He shot 10-for-13 from the floor and was a perfect 7-for-7 at the free throw line.
Tori Odom added 24 points for the second straight game. The Coyotes' leading scorer was Omon Edobar with 23 points.

UP NEXT
First-place VIU (12-0) travels to Douglas College to face the fifth place Royals (3-8) for a Friday, February 4 matchup (7 PM) that makes up a postponed game from earlier in the season. This will be the first meeting of the season for these two teams, who also meet at VIU for a two-game set on February 18 & 19.
On Saturday, the Mariners return home to host the CBC Bearcats (1-10). Tip-off at the VIU Gym is 2 PM. Games can be streamed live on PACWEST.LIVE.
