WVB: Five Wins in a Row

ABBOTSFORD - Led by an impressive all-around showing by outside hitter Danielle Groenendijk, the Mariners swept the host Columbia College Bearcats 3-0 (25-13, 25-15, 25-17) on Saturday.

The win was the fifth consecutive victory for the Mariners (7-2) and puts VIU six points behind the Douglas Royals (10-1) for top spot in the PACWEST conference with two games in hand. The Mariners have not dropped a set during the five-game win streak, which includes three wins over CBC (0-9).

For the game, Groenendijk contributed 14 digs along with 6 kills and 4 aces. Yevgeniya Lytvynenko added 6 kills and 2 aces.

The Mariners return home to host the Capilano Blues (4-6) at the VIU Gym, Friday, January 28 (6 PM) and Saturday, January 29 (1 PM). Spectators are now permitted at VIU home games to 50% capacity, and games will also be streamed on PACWEST.LIVE.
