MVB: Owen Dyck & VIU Break Down the Bearcats
ABBOTSFORD - first-year setter Owen Dyck stepped into the starting lineup and led VIU (7-3) to a 3-1 (25-21, 24-26, 25-22, 25-20) victory over the Columbia Bible College Bearcats (0-9).
Dyck (Winnipeg, MB) totalled 46 setting assists over the four sets and added 9 digs, 4 kills, and a block. Fifth-year outside hitter Jeff Webb continued his strong season with 16 kills and an ace while fellow fifth-year Scott Irvine added 14 kills and 7 digs.
Despite their winless record, the Bearcats played VIU tough in two earlier meetings this season at VIU, both of which went to five sets. This storyline continued through most of this game until VIU took control in the fourth set, building leads of 4-1, 10-5, and 14-8 before closing out the match.
