Raft Guides Course

This seven day course is designed for students who are interested in becoming raft guides, or who are just interested in learning about white water rafting. This is an intensive course delivered over 7 days and will include late afternoon sessions and lots of scenario based learning. Participants should have some experience with white water kayaking or rafting prior to the course. The majority of the course will be conducted outdoors, and students should be prepared for variable weather conditions. This program can include certification with the BC River Outfitters Association (BCROA). Most of the course will be taught on the Nanaimo River with the final 5 days on the Gold River and yes we will be camping. Depending on water levels we could potentially be on the Cowichan,Chemainus or Englishman Rivers too.

Sea Kayak Level 1

This course is for people who want to pursue sea kayak guiding/instruction as a potential career, or for the recreational sea kayaker who would like to improve their understanding of sea kayaking. This is an intensive course delivered over 5 days and will include late afternoon sessions. Participants should have some experience paddling sea kayaks prior to the course. The majority of the course will be conducted outdoors, and students should be prepared for variable weather conditions. This program includes certification with the Sea Kayak Guides Alliance of British Columbia (SKGABC). For those that are interested in pursuing certification, it has to made clear that passing this course is only one step on route to becoming a fully certified Level I guide (granted it’s the biggest step). Students should make themselves aware of the SKGABC requirements for becoming a Level I guide. This information can be found on the SKGABC website www.skgabc.com
