Age and Inclusion Policies
Updated April 13th 2021
Age Policy
Campers must be within the minimum and maximum age requirements for their specified camp within the year that the camp is taking place. (ex. A 5-year-old who is turning 6 in October of the year of the camp may register for a camp where the age range is 6-10 years.)
For insurance purposes, campVIU is unable to accept campers under the age of 5 regardless of when their birthday is.
Gender Inclusion
campVIU respects choice in gender identity and aims to create an inclusive and safe environment. For our gendered camps, campers are asked to register for camps based on their gender identity. For our registration system, the gender the camper chooses in the beginning of the summer will remain the same for any other session that year.
Behavioural or Physical Challenges Policies
campVIU aims to create an inclusive and safe environment for everyone. campVIU does not currently have an inclusion leader that can lead one on one programming for any individual camper. However, if your camper might require additional help during the camp week, please let us know during the registration process about any behavioural or physical challenges that a camper may have. We encourage parents to also email camp@viu.ca before the first week of camp to help leaders develop an inclusion plan and systems that ensure the best week of camp possible.
